Imphal, September 14 2026: In a proud moment, Manipur's Syed Farooque, Thounaojam Khelemba and Md Aziz have been selected in the men's squad of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India (WBFI) .

Reacting to the achievement, the Wheelchair Basketball Association Manipur (WBAM) issued a press release stating that their selection serves as a powerful reminder that differently-abled individuals are just as capable as anyone else, provided they possess the grit, hard work, and dedication to achieve their goals.

Among the selected players, Syed Farooque is a resident of Lilong Haoreibi Awang, Thounaojam Khelemba hails from Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai, and Md Aziz is from Hatta .

While urging the public to support the association and encourage these athletes, WBAM also drew the attention of the Chief Minister and the Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, appealing to them to favorably consider their submitted memoranda and translate them into action.
