SSU, Sainik FC win to complete 65th CC Meet quarter-final line up

Imphal, June 14 2026: Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei and Sainik School Imphal Old Boys' Football Club (Sainik FC), Tera registered wins as the last-16 round of the Babina Group 65th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2025-26 came to a close today at Mapal Kangjeibung.

In the 7th pre-quarterfinal match, SSU edged out Social Sporting Club (SSC), Sekta by 2-1 goals to set up a quarterfinal date with Rahee UC on June 16 (from 3.30 pm) .

SSU dominated earlier proceedings but took 34 minutes to open the lead through Khumanthem Hemlet before Longmei Pougang (45+3') scored three minutes into the added time of the first period to make it 1-1 at the lemon break.

Konthoujam Monex retained the lead for SSU at the stroke of the hour-mark and it turned to be the final goal of the match as SSC failed to mount their way back despite having some close calls.

Later in the final pre-quarterfinal match, Sainik FC sealed a slender 1-0 win over United Youth Thamnapokpi (UYT), Thamnapokpi courtesy of Chirom Shinivash's 62nd minute strike.

With the win, Sainik FC set up a quarter-final date with USA, Khurai on June 17 (3.30 pm) .
