Imphal, October 12 2026: A flurry of second and third chukker goals helped K&MM Riding School-A outlast AR Polo Team-B in a 13-goal thriller as the 39th N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament, 2026 kicked off today at Imphal's historic Mapal Kangjeibung.

Neither team were able to convert their chances in the opening chukker but K&MM Riding showed class in the second chukker to take a 5-1 lead thanks to a treble from I Rahul and a goal apiece from S Palaharda and N Rohit.

The opening goal for AR Polo Team-B was scored by Th Premananda just 3 seconds into the chukker before K&MM Riding School-A players took charge of the game.

The third chukker saw S Palaharda completing his treble in the first and the final minutes and eventually earned his team a 7-3 lead as Md Wajihuddin and J Vasha scored a goal apiece for AR Polo Team-B .

AR Polo Team-B, however, owned the fourth chukker and pumped in three goals through Wajihuddin, Th Premananda and J Vasha but their efforts were not enough to deny K&MM Riding School a place in the second stage.

Awang Koubru team will play KRYPHSA tomorrow in the second match of the 36-team tournament organised by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association.

UPC-B will play Ibudhou Marjing in the following match before Kangleipak PC take on MPSC-C later in the day.
