2nd Premier League Round 2 : WAFA edge ABA 2-1 as Angtha FC hold SSU to 2-2 draw

Imphal, July 12 2025: Wangoi Football Association (WAFA), Wangoi edged past Athletic Brother's Association (ABA), Kshetrigao by 2-1 goals as Angtha FC fought back to hold Southern Sporting Union(SSU), Singjamei to a 2-2 draw in second round Group C matches of the ongoing 2nd Premier League at SAI ground, Takyel today.

Coming off fresh from their 5-0 win against SSU in their previous outing, WAFA continued their impressive form to lead the first half 1-0 against ABA thanks to Shougrakpam Netrajit's 36th minute strike.

ABA however maintained their composure and pulled level in the 59th minute through Ningthoujam Dhanaraj but the parity did not last long as Chirom Shinivash broke the deadlock for WAFA in the 65th minute.

Although ABA put in relentless effort to draw level, WAFA defenders were equal to the task and denied their rivals' and made sure to extend their unbeaten run in the second round to three games having drawn 2-2 in their second round opening match with RAU.

Later in the day, Angtha FC fought back from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw with SSU .

SSU, having suffered defeats in the first two second round matches, got off to a flying start and raced to a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Sharangthem Rajdan (27') and Yumnam Suraj (30') .

Angtha FC pulled back a goal through Thangabar in the 36th minute to make it 1-2 at halftime before Julian Keishing hit the leveller in the 69th minute.

With the score locked at 2-2, the two sides fought it out to find the winner but their efforts did not pay off and eventually shared a point apiece.
