Governor's Cup Polo Tournaments : X-Polo Club outlast MPSC-A to complete men's semi-final line up; IRC reach women's final

Imphal, April 12 2025: X-Polo Club, Wangkhei outlasted MPSC-A by 10-5 goals to complete the semi-final line up of the ongoing 31st Governor's Cup Invitation Men's Polo Tournament while Imphal Riding Club (IRC) knocked out Ibudhou Pakhangba PC 12-2 to reach 20th Governor's Cup Women's Polo Tournament final.

In the opening match of the 4-team women's tournament, IRC rode on Kh Deventy and Th Tana to seal the huge 12-2 victory.

Kh Deventy and Kh Habe scored to hand IRC a 2-0 first chukker lead before Deventy struck her second goal in the second chukker to earn a 3-1 lead for her team.

Y Ranjita managed the first goal for Ibudhou Pakhangba Polo Club in this chukker.

The third chukker saw Tana open her account to earn IRC a 4-1 advantage before Ranjita scored her second to make it 2-4.Kh Deventy and M Bijenti however joined the spree to add two goals apiece and fire IRC to a 8-2 lead before Tana and M Priya scored two goals apiece in the final chukker to make it 12-2 at the end of the game.

IRC will play the winners between MPSC and AR Women's Polo team (to be played on April 15) in the final slated for April 18 .

Meanwhile in the fourth (quarterfinal) match of the 8-team men's competition, Th Jacob and L Atangba stamped their authority by adding 9 goals and set up the 10-5 win over X-Polo Club.

Jacob scored twice to give X-Polo Club a 2-0 lead in the first chukker before the second chukker saw him adding one and L Atangba firing home three goals to make it 6-1.T Roshan scored it for MPSC-A in this chukker.

MPSC looked to gain control in the third chukker and added three goals, one apiece from Th Romen, Y Binoy and Th Ranjit but Th Jacob and Atangba managed a goal apiece to keep X-Polo Club ahead by 8-4 lead.

L Kokeshwor and Jacob scored one goal apiece in the final chukker against M Jawan's single for MPSC-A to seal the game 10-5 win.

MPSC-B will play Chingkheihunba PC in the first semi-final match on April 15 before Black Watch PC play X-Polo Club on April 16 .

Both the tournaments are being organised by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.
