Shaheed Manoranjan Memorial Football : YPHU, WAFA advance into quarters

Imphal, February 12 2021: YPHU and WAFA advanced into the quarterfinals of the ongoing 11th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial State Level Open Football Tournament at SAI, Sports Complex, Takyel.

The first quarterfinals match of the day saw YPHU, Lalambung registering an easy 6-0 win over GC, CRPF, thanks to Olen hattrick (23', 43' and 65') .

K Arun opened the account for the Lalambung team in the 11th minute, before Olen struck two back to back goals in the 23rd and 43rd minute of the game to extend the lead to 3 goals.

Adding salt to the injury of CRPF team, Commando and Renedy netted a goal each for YPHU in the 55th and 61st minute.

The last goal of the match and the 3rd of Olen came in the 65th minute.

The normal time ended 6-0 in favour of YPHU.

In the second pre-quarterfinals match of the day, E Joykisan also struck a hattrick as WAFA drubbed LYCC 7-1 to advance into the next round of the tourney.

WAFA's Joykisan exhibited exceptional performances in the first half as he scored three consecutive goals in the 9th, 19th and 30th minute.

Peter Haokip also netted two goals (54' and 80') while compatriots N Suraj and H Naobi contributed a goal each in the 59th and 80th minute to ensure the big win for the Wangoi side.

The only goal of the losing team was scored by SK Damme in the 74th minute.
