Ranji Trophy Plate 4th tie : Bishworjit, Ajay, Kishan dismiss Mizoram for 143 runs to earn 257-run first innings lead

Mizoram were 243/8 on follow-on and trailing by 14 runs at stumps on Day 3 after the pace and spin attack of Konthoujam Bishwoijit, Lamabam Ajay and L Kishan Singha helped Manipur dismiss them for the first innings total of 143 runs at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Anand in a Ranji Trophy Plate Group tie.
Resuming their first innings this morning at 56/4 (24 overs) with Khiangte Vanrotlinga (10) and Jehu Anderson (10), Mizoram lost Khiangte on 11 to Bishwoijit in the 26th over before incoming substitute Hruaizela and Jehu Anderson carried forward the game by adding 43 runs off 61 balls for the sixth wicket.
Their momentum lost when Lamabam Ajay dismissed Jehu Anderson on 21 for the 6th wicket in the 36th over as the scoreboard read 102.Spinner L Kishan also joined the fray as he caught and bowled F Lalmuanzuala (6) for the 7th wicket before Ajay completed his haul of three wickets by removing Karthik CA for the 8th wicket.
Although Hruaizela tried his best to hold on, Mizoram further slump with Bobby Zothansanga getting run out on 11 before Kishan Singha bowled out Marema on a 9-ball duck to cut short the innings at 143.Manipur skipper Bishwoijit Konthoujam returned with the best bowling figures of 3/23 in his spell of 14 overs in this innings as Ajay finished with 3/36 in 12 overs that included 3 maidens and L Kishan Singha finished with 2/10 in 5.4 overs.
Medium pacer Pheiroijam Jotin had also claimed the second wicket earlier yesterday to return with 1/43 in 11 overs.
Asked to follow on, Mizoram started wobbly again and were reduced to 19/ 2 within 4.5 overs as Hruaizela got run out on 6 for the first wicket before Pheiroijam Jotin bowled out incoming Jehu Anderson on 6-ball 1.From 19/2, Sahil Reza and Armaan Jaffer looked to take control of the innings as they added 62 runs together off 100 balls for the third wicket but L Kishan Singha broke their partnership by removing Sahil Reza on 21 in the 18th over.
Armaan Jaffer did his best to take the game forward as he forged another 75 run partnership with Thankhuma for the 4th wicket but Lamabam Ajay trapped him lbw out on 81 (off 91 balls; 12 fours) to make the scoreline read 156/ 4 after 37.4 overs.
Lamabam Ajay also dismissed CA Karthik on a 4-ball duck to reduce Mizoram to 162/5 before Lamabam Ajay swept the 6th, 7th and 8th wickets by dismissing Lalmuanzuala (3), Marty (6) and Lalthankhuma (69 off 125 balls; 8 fours and 1 six), who had forged another remarkable 55-run partnership forth the 8th wicket with Khiangte Valrotlinga, to reduce Mizoram to 242/8 after 65.1 overs.
Khiangte Vanrotlinga (36 off 56) and Bobby Zothansanga (0 off 10) were unbeaten as Mizoram closed out the third day at 243/8, 14 runs behind Manipur's first innings total of 400 runs powered by Al Bashid's 126, Kh Ulenyai's 90 and Jotin's 55 .
