Three from State to compete at World Armwrestling C'ship

Imphal, September 10 2025: As many as three athletes from Manipur are set to represent India at the 46th World Armwrestling Championship and 27th Para Armwrestling Championship 2025 that begins today at Albena, Bulgaria.

The State athletes who made it to the 37-member squad for the world championship that will run till September 23 are Thounaojam Nicholas (sub-junior-65 kg; L&R hand), RK Ajhaljit (junior -65 kg; L hand) and Lourembam Chitreshwor (masters -70 kg; R hand) .

12 athletes from Delhi and Mumbai have left India for the championship while the remaining athletes will depart tomorrow for Albena, said the Manipur Armwrestling Association in a press release.

The State trio were selected for the world championship based on their performances in the National championship held in Kerala recently, it added while extending best wishes to the athletes.
