MNCA Elite Tourney : Nawaz stars as Al-Ameen kick off campaign with 51-run victory over TRAU

Imphal, February 10 2023: Al Ameen got off to a flying start in the 7th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament as they posted a 51-run victory against TRAU-Kwakeithel today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium courtesy of allround performance from Nawaz.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Al-Ameen posted a total of 229 runs for 6 thanks to Nawaz's 98-ball 114 and bowled out TRAU for 178 runs in 38.4 overs for the victory.

Nawaz gave Al-Ameen a positive start and found the fench 17 times (14 fours and 3 sixes) on the way to his 114 and took the team past the 200 run mark before he departed for the fifth wicket in the second delivery of the 37 overs.

Md Safwan Khan (28), Boboicha Singh Thokchom (18), Khulakpam Shahadat (15), Md Kabir (13) and Mustaque (10) also posted double digit figures for Al-Ameen as Thounaojam Rishikanta, Priyojit Kangabam and Abdul Kasim of TRAU picked up a wicket each.

In the chase, Karnajit played anchor with a 83-ball 62 but his effort went in vain as Mustaque Mohammed (3/36 in 8 overs), Nawaz (2/31 in 4.4 overs) and Md Nasirshah Alam Nongjaimayum (2/31 in 8 overs) restricted the run flow while removing wickets regularly to set up the batting collapse at 178 in 38.4 overs.

Priyojit Kangabam (28) and Behul Singh Moibungkhongbam (24 not out) also made significant contributions to the TRAU's tally.

Akram Khan and Habibullah Ahammed also claimed a wicket apiece in this innings.

Nawaz who blazed off a century and snatched two wickets was adjudged man of the match.
