Tanishqa-Charmie to meet Manipuri pair Y Agu and L Linda in girls doubles final

Imphal, October 09 2018: The pair of Assam's Tanishqa Patar and Nongmeikapam Charmie of Manipur will face Yumnam Agu and Laishram Linda for the girls doubles title at the ongoing AITA U-l 4 Championship Series organised by Manipur Tennis Association under the supervision of All India Tennis Association at Tennis Court of Officers' Club, Lamphelpat.

The first semi-final match of the girls double competition saw Tanishqa and Charmie combined well to romp past Yumnam Thoibi and MNC Sanareima 6-1, 6-2 to seal the final berth while Yumnam Agu and Laishram Linda secured a 6-2, 6-5 win over Adrika Rajkumari and Bindyarani Lamabam in the second semi-final match.

Adrika and Bindyarani made their place into the semi-final with a 6-2, 6-3 win against GA Ananya Sharma and Laishram Nandini in the quarter final match played earlier.

Girls Singles
Tanishqa Patar secured the final berth of the girls singles competition with a comfortable 6-0, 6-1 win over Agu Yumnam in the semi-final.

She will meet the winners between her doubles partner, N Charmie and Bindyarani who will face one another in the semifinal tomorrow, in the final.

Y Agu booked the semifinal berth with a 7-6, 6-1 in the first quarter final staged today while Bindyarani got the better of L Linda by 6-2, 6-1 sets to set up semi-final clash with N Charmie who overcame Y Thoibi 6-0, 6-1 in the last quarter final match.

Boys Singles
Neeraj Thockhom moved into the boys singles last 4 round with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Gavin Wahengbam who is representing Karnataka while Rajivkumar Thongbam went down 3-6, 4-6 to Karnataka's G Subramanain Saatvik in another quarter final clash.

Rohan Patel Nimish of Maharashtra also moved into the semi-final by beating Assam's Beda Aditya Kalita 6-2, 6-1 in another quarter final match.

Boys Doubles
Manipur's Ashwajit Senjam and Assam's Tamuly Das have secured a place in the boys doubles final.

Ashwajit and Tamuly Das defeated Beda Aditya and Biparsh Bishwas 6-1, 6-1 in the first semi-final match staged today.

In the quarter final matches staged earlier, Chirst Karpe of Maharashtra and Rohan Nimish defeated G Subramanain Saatvik and V Himnish by 6-2, 6-1 sets; Bora Harshad and Buragohain Aman got the better of Manipuri pair Lukram Paras and Shankar Heishnam by 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 sets; Ashwajit-Tamuly defeated Baibhar Das and Jisnwanga Baruah 6-2, 6-2 and Beda Aditya and Biparsh Bishwas outshone Thongbam Rajivkumar and Keisham Riyo 6-4, 6-3.Earlier, in a pre-quarter clash Lukram Paras and Shankar Heishnam saw off Gavin Wahengbam and Neeraj Thokchom 6-3, 7-6 (7) to reach quarter final.

Altogether, 20 boys and 10 girls are taking part in this tennis tournament.
