MPSC (A); (B); (C); KPC and TPC advance to semifinals

Imphal, April 09 2015 : Khurai Polo Club (KPC); Manipur Police Sporting Club (A); (B) and (C) booked their place for semi finals in the 31st State Level Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung through commanding performance on Thursday.

At the same time, Thangmeiband Polo Club (TPC) also advanced to the semi finals of the 9th State Level Women's Polo Tournament on Thursday by defeating ESC Polo team by 8-0 .

TPC scored two goals in all the four chukkers to beat their rival ESC Polo Club.

S Langlen and Kh Habe scored the goals in 4.21 and 7.00 min of the first chukker to take an early lead in the match.

TPC continues to hold tight the proceedings of the match.

Kh Deventy scored a goal in the 2.57 min of the second chukker to increase the lead for TPC.

Kh Habe also added a goal in the 5.58 min to the frustration of ESC players.

At the end of second chukker TPC leads ESC by 4-0 .

ESC tried to come back in the match through an early raid to TPC territory.

Taking advantage of the open space left behind, A Romapati strikes the ball into ESC goal mouth in the 0.40 min.

ESC could not find any answer to the TPC attacks.

ESC hope of moving ahead in the tournament was dusted in Kh Habe in 4.58 min through a goal.

Dejected ESC players were made to like hopeless by Sangita and S Langlen by scoring goals in 3.22 and 5.26 min of the final chukker.

TPC comfortably walk over ESU into the semi final.

In the first men's quarterfinal match, Khurai Polo Club (KPC) overcame stiff resistance from Chingkheihunba Polo Club (CPC) (A).

In the closely contested match, O Roger opens the account for KPC in 1.32 min.

CPC pull back in the 2.00 min through Th Kaoba.

KPC finally took the lead through Roger and P Ojit in 5.42 and 6.5 min.

P Jotin increased the lead in 3.15 of second chukker.

With three goals down, Chingkheihunba fought hard to reduce the deficit.

Finally, CPC scored two goals in 5.12 and 6.45 min through L Attangba and Th Kaoba.

When it was looking that Chinkheihunba will come back into the match, P Ojit scored a goal in 7.19 min.

At the end of second chukker Khurai PC leads CPC by 5-3 goals.

In the 1.42 min of third chukker Roger fires a goal to consolidate the lead for Khurai.

Khurai players left Chingkheihunba frustrated by denying any goal in the chukker.

As such, in the penultimate chukker Khurai was comfortably place at 6-3 .

Th Kaoba and L Atangba combine to bring Chingkheihunba into the match by scoring a goal each in 1.10 and 1.54 min.

With one goal difference between the two, Chingkheihunba press hard for the equalizer, however, in the process left vacant spaces.

The open space was exploited by P Ojit and scores a goal in 3.50 min for Khurai to extend the lead to two goals.

The lead was defended by Khurai till the final whistle to advance to the semi finals.

In another match Manipur Police Sporting Club (MPSC) (C) thrashed Thoubal District Polo Club (A) by 6-3.Achumi scored the first goal of the match in 0.23 min for Thoubal.

However, S Viking pulled the goal back in 1.44 min for Police.

Once in level terms, police scored though Th Romen to hand the lead to police in 2.57 min in the first chukker.

Achumi brought Thoubal in equal terms with police with a lightning goal in 0.16 min of the second chukker.

Vivekananda again snatch the lead for police in 1.15 min.

The chukker witness frequent change of directions in terms of attack.

Again, Achumi scored a goal in 4.55 min to hand over the lead for the first time in the match to Thoubal.

In the third chukker, Vivekananda pulled back the deficit in 6.59 min for police.

On the other side, Thoubal could not added any goal into their account.

The final chukker also went similar to the previous chukker, police increased the lead through Vivekananda in 0.15 min of the final chukker.

The Police also protected their territory against any harm by Thoubal while looking to increase their lead.

Finally, Y Binoy completes the process by scoring a goal in 5.37 min and pockets the match in 6-3 .

The third quarterfinal match was played between MPSC (B) and Khurai Polo Club (B) where police B team flog Khurai B by 7-3 .

I Khaba; M Bilan; M BIlan; L Tarun; T Pradeep and H Abung Khuman were the goal scorer of police B team while K Herojit and K Romeo were the scorer of Khurai B team.

In the first chukker, I Khaba provide the lead for police in 3.44 and was followed by M Bilan in 6.38 min.

Bilan again scored two goals in 1.20 and 3.20 min of the second chukker for a 4-0 lead in the end of second chukker.

Tarun scored for police in 3.5 min for police while K Herojit scored the first goal for Khurai in 5.10 min in the third chukker.

Pradeep scored in 7.30 to continue the momentum for police.

K Romeo and K Herojit scored in 1.45 and 3.45 for Khurai and pressed hard to reduce the margin.

But police defended well and also added another one through H Abung Khuman in 5.40 min to qualify for semi finals with 7-3 victory.

In the final match of the day, MPSC (A) dominated Tekcham from the first minute of first chukker through M Jawan's 1.53 and 3.45 min goals.

A Abungcha also came to the party in 7.49 min.

Abuncha extend the lead in 0.36 and 6.50 min of second chukker.

S Ranjit scored the first goal for Tekcham in the third chukker in 1.40 min.

On the other side, Kh Dinesh and O Suraj kumar added one goal each for police in 2.45 and 6.20 min.

At the end of third chukker police A leads Tekcham by 7-1 .

The final chukker no team score a goal.
