Lanchenba claims fifth gold, smashes third national record at Jr Nationals

Manipur's Laitonjam Lanchenba brought the curtain down on a stellar campaign by securing his fifth gold medal on the final day of the 51st Junior National Aquatic Championships 2025, held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Competing in the Boys' Group II 50m butterfly, Lanchenba clocked a blistering 26.03 seconds, eclipsing the previous junior national record of 26.13 set by Aryan Varnekar in 2018 .
With this performance, he not only topped the podium but also set his third national record of the championship.

Lanchenba's dominance throughout the meet was unmatched.
His consistent excellence across multiple events earned him the title of Best Swimmer in Boys' Group II, having amassed a total of five gold medals and rewritten the record books three times.
Following him in the 50m butterfly event on Thursday were Krishna Yadav of Uttar Pradesh (26.83s) and Kerala's Aarosh S (27.70s), who took silver and bronze respectively.
