39th State Sub-Junior Basketball Championships : YOSC, Youth Club register third successive wins in boys' competition

YOSC, Khurai and Youth Club, Uripok registered their third wins on the trot in the boys' competition of the 39th State Sub-Junior Basketball Championships while YOSC girls confirmed themselves a place in the final with two successive wins.
In the first match of the day and the 7th match of the boys' competition held at Uripok Achom Leikai, YOSC completed their league round treble by handing Model Club, Chingamakha a crushing 67-17 defeat.
Chitan shone yet again with the match high 35 points today to steer YOSC to the convincing win today as Chitravash followed with 16 points, Phirepa managed 8 points and the pair of Hitler and Dylan managed 4 points apiece.
YOSC were in total command from the opening period and led the first period 13-4 before taking a 19-9 lead at halfway mark.
They raced to an unassailable 47-13 lead by the end of the third period before pumping in 20 more points in the final period to seal the huge win.
For Model Club, Keilung and Albert scored 8 points apiece and Delbert managed one.
In the second boys' match of the day, ESU beat CYLC 51-15 for the second win in three matches.
Mangalsana led the scoring for ESU by scoring 18 points alone as Brownson and Pangakpa scored 12 points apiece.
Jivit, meanwhile, added 9 points to amass 51 points.
For CYLC, Thomas scored the highest 6 points as Yaiphaba and Suzenain scored 4 points apiece and Thoungamba added one.
In the 9th match of the boys' competition, YOSC scored their third straight victory by defeating LMYVA, Lalambung 76-33 .
Shriyans led the way for Youth Club scoring 22 points including a trey as Nishan scored 16 points.
Billgates and Phoenix also scored two triples apiece for Youth Club on the way to their 14-point and 12-point finishes as Dhanaraj managed 10 points and Mangal added 2 points.
Yohenba also managed 22 points on the back of two triples as Telheiba scored 6 points, the pair of Kamaljit and Nelson scored 2 points apiece and Ira converted a free throw to manage 1 .
YOSC assured of a final berth in girls' competition
The day also saw YOSC beat LMYVA 31-9 for the second straight victory.
The win also assured themselves of a final berth in the 4-team tournament alongside CYLC, who have also registered two straight wins.
Ng Chim Chim scored 15 points in YOSC's victory today followed by T Lanchenbi (6 pts), Sh Bunny (4 pts), M Percy (4 pts) and T Thasana (2 pts) .
Shreeya meanwhile scored 4 points for LMYVA as Belia and Hoshika scored 2 points apiece and Merinda added 1 point.
