MSU half marathon marks World Environment Day

Imphal, June 05 2025: As part of World Environment Day observance, Makhan Students' Union (MSU) on Thursday organised the 1st MSU 1.0 Half Marathon under the theme "Healthy Planet, Healthy People" with over 200 runners participating in the event.

The half marathon, organised in collaboration with Mothers International School, Lower Makhan, and flagged off from Makhan Football Ground, covered a 10-kilometre stretch up to the 57th Mountain Red Shield Division in Leimakhong and returned to the starting point.

The race witnessed active participation from students, villagers, and local youth, reflecting growing community enthusiasm for environmental awareness.

Sagar Poudel of Tispari, Kanglatongbi secured hrst place in the male category, followed by Pourimyibe Pame of Phoklong, Tamenglong, and Praveen Dhungana of Hathikhuwa, Kanglatongbi, in second and third position respectively.

In the female category, Lungbenwangliu Malangmai of Makhan village clinched the top spot, while Merina Goimei of DM University and Widouliu Marenmai of Makhan completed the course in second and third position respectively.

In the children's category, Bikash Kawar of Tispari, Mothers International School, took first place.

Anmol Bandhari, also of Tispari, came second, and Widiangbou Abonmai of Makhan stood third.

Winners received certificates, mementos, medals, and cash prizes, while all participants were presented with a certificate and a sapling to promote the plantation initiative and encourage a deeper commitment to environmental protection.
