37th N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament begins; KRYPHSA Polo Team-A edge out AR Polo Team-B 5-4 in tourney opener

Imphal, March 05 2025: The 37th edition of N Hazari and Dr N Tombi Satte Polo Tournament 2025 organised by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association began today at Mapal Kangjeibung.

The opening match of the tournament saw KRYPHSA Polo Team -A edging out Assam Rifles Polo Team-B by 5-4 goals courtesy of N Alex's extra chukker goal following a 4-4 draw till the end of four chukkers.

KRYPHSA Polo Team-A led the first chukker 1-0 through H Muhindro's closing minute goal.

T Vasha equalised for AR Polo Team-B in the opening minute of the second chukker but KRYPHSA Polo Team-A retained the lead within two minutes as Muhindro found the target yet again.

The third chukker saw Md Waji scoring one goal for AR Polo Team-B against one goal apiece for KRYPHSA Polo Team-A by Muhindro and W Rupa to make it 4-2 .

KRYPHSA Polo Team-A however lost the 2-goal lead as AR Polo Team-B made their way back into the game courtesy of a goal each from S Mangalsana and BK Barman.

With the score locked at 4-4 at the end of the fourth chukker, an additional chukker was added on to decide the winners wherein Alex scored in the 2nd minute to seal the 5-4 win.

Earlier in the day, the 34-team knock-out tournament was formally inaugurated in the presence of Dr RK Khogendrajit, Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur and Professor Ch Priyoranjan, honorary president Manipuri Pony Society as presidium members.
