L Ronel nominated as zonal convenor for NE Zonal Selection Committee

Imphal, August 01 2025: Leishangthem Ronel Singh, hon secretary of Manipur Cricket Association (MNCA) has been nominated as the zonal convener of the North East Zonal Selection Committee for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025, scheduled to be held at the Centre of Excellence (CoE), Bengaluru, from August 28 to September 15, 2025.As the Zonal Convener, he will lead the selection of a 15-member squad comprising talented players from across the North East Zone, said MNCA in a press release.

Additionally, he will be responsible for nominating the support staff of the North East Zone team, which will include a Coach, Assistant Coach, Physio, Trainer, Performance Analyst, Masseur, and Manager, it said.

The meeting of the North East Zonal Selection Committee is scheduled to take place on August 11 at 6 pm at Hotel Taj Vivanta, Guwahati.

Ronel's nomination is a matter of great pride and honour for the Manipur Cricket Association and the association extends heartfelt thanks to the North East State Cricket Associations and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their continued faith and trust in our association and its leadership, it said.

MNCA also quoted Nongthombam Zico Meetei, hon president of MNCA as saying - "It is a proud and inspiring moment for all of us at MNCA.

Ronel Singh's nomination as Zonal Convener is a recognition of his commitment, credibility, and leadership in cricket administration.

We are confident that he will discharge his duties with utmost sincerity and fairness, and we wish the North East Zone team great success in the upcoming Duleep Trophy".

It is second time for Leishangthem Ronel Singh, to be nominated for such a role, the first being in the 2023-24 season, when he served as Zonal Convener for the North East Zonal Selection Committee for the Senior Women's Inter Zonal One Day Trophy, it said.

The MNCA also congratulated him and wished him and the North East Zone Team great success in the forthcoming Duleep Trophy.
