Hockey: Manipur secure third straight win with gritty comeback against Kerala

Imphal, July 31 2025: Manipur continued their impressive run in the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men's National Championship 2025 (Division B), fighting back from a goal down to clinch a 2-1 victory over Kerala in a gripping Pool B clash on Thursday in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The win extends their unbeaten streak to three matches, further solidifying their strong form.

Kerala seized the early advantage when Baxla Rohit broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, capitalising on a well-worked attacking move.

However, Manipur refused to be deterred and mounted a determined fightback.

Their persistence paid off in the third quarter, as Lisham Max Singh delivered a composed finish in the 35th minute to restore parity.

The fourth quarter saw both sides battle fiercely for control, but it was Manipur who ultimately found the decisive breakthrough.

In the 60th minute, Manimatum Maibam struck with a clinical effort to put his side ahead.

Despite late pressure from Kerala, Manipur's defence held firm, ensuring they emerged victorious and maintained their winning streak in the competition.

M Manimatum Maibam was named the player of the match.
