World Athletics Day: AR organises sporting events in Tamenglong & Noney

Imphal, May 07 2025: Assam Rifles commemorated World Athletics Day by organising a series of sporting events across Tamenglong and Noney districts on Wednesday.

The events aimed at promoting fitness, unity, and youth engagement.

Activities included friendly volleyball matches in Tamei (Tamenglong) and Taobam (Noney), along with an athletics meet in Azuram village.

The events drew strong participation - around 50 youth from Tamei, 30 from Taobam, and 70 villagers, including women and children, from Azuram and five neighbouring villages.

The athletics competition featured 100m, 200m, and 400m sprints, as well as a high jump event, creating an inclusive and energetic atmosphere.

Beyond promoting physical activity, the initiative also fostered community bonding and provided a platform for young talent.

Residents expressed appreciation for the Assam Rifles' ongoing community outreach through sports and development efforts, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
