UKB run riot against YUFC, AFC upstage YPU in State League

Imphal, September 09 2022: United Khawzim Brothers (UKB) ran riot against Yarkhok United FC while The Athletics Football Club (AFC) dominated Young Physiques Union (YPU) in the Manipur State League 2022 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong on Friday.

UKB enjoyed a 4-0 drubbing of YUFC with strikes from Lamthianlal, Mangleinboi Neihsial, Manggoulen M Haokip and Seiminthang Haokip.

The Churachandpur side found their opener after frustrating 40 minutes of exchanges.

It was Lamthianlal who registered their first successful shot on target, heading into the second half.

Although UKB were the better team as well in the second period, they were made to work hard by the Ukhrul opponents for their second goal that came only in the 86th minute courtesy of Mangleinboi.

After their second goal, UKB were quick and well-co-ordinated as they compounded YUFC's woes in a span of two minutes.

Manggoulen drilled home the third goal in the 88th minute before Seiminthang's injury-time goal (90+1) wrapped up the 4-0 result.

AFC, meanwhile, dished out a 4-2 win over YPU as Wahengbam Tejkumar Meitei starred in his side's victory.

AFC completely dominated the first half scoring three goals inside 27 minutes.

Tejkumar started off with a 4th-minute opener as Prem kumar Thangjam doubled the lead four minutes later before Lungaohao Hangshing halved the deficit for YPU in the 18th minute via a penalty kick.

After conceding, AFC bounced back with another goal by Tejkumar in the 27th minute.

Then Lungaohao reduced the arrears again for his side after converting in the 54th minute before Moirangthem Malemnganba restored AFC's two-goal cushion in the third minute of stoppage and that closed out the game.
