USAIV Cup: UBSA, Ziontlang prevail in men's football

Imphal, April 23 2025: UBSA Mantak and Ziontlang claimed victories in contrasting fashion in the men's open football matches of the 1st United Southern Area Inter Village Cup 2025, held at UN-APAL Football Ground in Chandel.

UBSA delivered a commanding 3-1 win over Phunal Sambum.

Joram broke the deadlock for UBSA in the 14th minute, but Angdun pulled Phunal level shortly after half-time (47') .

UBSA quickly regained control, however, with Tumm restoring their lead just two minutes later (49').Chungneihel then sealed the victory with a third goal in the 69th minute.

In a thrilling encounter, Ziontlang edged out UNAPAL in a 4-3 victory.

Salemthang gave Ziontlang an early lead (5'), only for Ringthangsua to equalise almost immediately (6') .

Wanthangkhup then put UNAPAL ahead in the 15th minute, but Ziontlang fought back, with Salemthang netting his second (32') before Theichung gave them the lead (41').Lungir extended Ziontlang's advantage to 4-2 (47'), but Ringkholian set up a tense finale with a 52nd-minute strike for UNAPAL.

Despite late pressure, Ziontlang held firm to secure the win.

In the veterans' fixtures, Sambum Phunal dominated Khuringmul with a resounding 4-0 victory, thanks to goals from Mothil (20'), Angphua (29') and a brace from Koreathew (24', 50') .

Meanwhile, Liwa Changning came from behind to defeat New Wangparal 2-1, with Lungshim (23') and Ngamsha (46') overturning Lungam's 20th-minute opener for New Wangparal.
