Imphal, April 12 2025: The 1st Manipur Doctors Olympic Games 2025 commenced on Saturday at RIMS Indoor Stadium, Imphal, with a vibrant and energetic ceremony that brought together medical professionals from across the state.

A release issued by RIMS informed that the event is organised by Manipur Orthopedic Society (MOS) in collaboration with Manipur Masters Athletic Association (MMAA) and Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by RIMS director Prof.G Sunil Kumar Sharma as chief guest.

In his address, he emphasised the importance of physical health and well-being of medical professionals and commended the organisers for initiating the event.

The function was attended by YAS director in-charge and Home joint secretary Dr Mayengbam Veto Singh, RIMS medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh, Manipur Orthopedic Society secretary Dr Ch Banikanta Sharma, and Manipur Masters Athletic Association secretary Thambal Sharma as guests of honour.

The dignitaries delivered messages of encouragement, highlighting the value of sports in promoting holistic health, stress management, and unity among healthcare professionals.

To mark the inauguration, singles and doubles badminton matches were held, in which RIMS director himself participated.

The event aims to provide a platform for doctors across Manipur to engage in various athletic and sports competitions, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and physical fitness within the medical community, it added.
