PCC, MODEL, ESU progress to MNCA Men's U-19 pre-QFs

PCC, MODEL and ESU prevailed in contrasting styles to advance to the Round of 16 of the 3rd MNCA Mens U-19 One Day Trophy on Wednesday.
PCC handed out a 174-run thrashing to TRAU in their meeting at Moijing Public Ground.
Opting to bat first, PCC posted an impressive total of 285 runs in 33.4 overs, thanks to standout performances from their top-order batsmen.
Captain Takhelma-yum Vikash led from the front with a blistering 91 off just 52 balls, including 7 fours and 6 sixes.
He was ably supported by Boocker Kangujam, who remained unbeaten on 79 from 33 deliveries, smashing 10 fours and 4 sixes at an astonishing strike rate of 239.39.Mairembam Lucky Meitei also contributed a steady 27 off 32 balls.
TRAU's bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, with Huiningshumbam Luching being the pick of the attack, claiming 4 wickets for 54 runs.
Preethson Arubam and Tyrus Chabungbam chipped in with 2 wickets apiece, but the rest of the bowling unit failed to make significant inroads.
Chasing 286 for victory, TRAU's innings never gained momentum as they were bundled out for a mere 111 in 29.5 overs.
PCC's bowlers were relentless, with Takhelmayum Vikash showcasing his all-round prowess by taking 5 wickets for just 7 runs in 3.5 overs, including a maiden over.
Mairembam Lucky Meitei also impressed with figures of 2 for 19, while Boocker Kangujam and Lucky Thokchom claimed a wicket each.
TRAU's batting lineup faltered under pressure, with only Ishorchandra Loithongjam (18) and Huiningshumbam Luching (14) reaching double figures.
The team's inability to build partnerships sealed their fate, as wickets fell at regular intervals.
ESU triumphed over CYCLONE by 42 runs at Public Ground, Khangabok Part-III, Cherapur.
ESU elected to bat and posted a total of 139 runs in 29 overs.
Captain Hanjabam Donba Sharma led from the front with a solid 35 runs off 45 balls, supported by Soibam Venus Singh, who contributed 29 runs.
However, CYCLONE'S Robinson Sougajjam delivered a stellar bowling performance, claiming 5 wickets for 34 runs, restricting ESU to a modest total.
In response, CYCLONE struggled against ESU's disciplined bowling attack.
Bishomcha Khundrakpam (3/36) and Thokchom Simesh (3/33) dismantled CYCLONE'S batting lineup, bundling them out for just 97 runs in 24.1 overs.
MODEL beat SHADOW by 4 wickets at Khudelband Lampak.
SHADOW chose to bat first but were bowled out for 166 runs in 36.1 overs.
Sagatpam Lanchenba top-scored with a resilient 77 runs, while Bisal Ningombam (3/25) and Ashem Bobby (3/35) shone with the ball for MODEL.
Chasing 167 for victory, MODEL faced early setbacks but were propelled by a magnificent unbeaten 99 from captain Bisal Ningombam, who struck 5 fours and 7 sixes.
Despite tight bowling from Sagatpam Telheiba (3/43), MODEL reached the target with 4 wickets in hand, clinching a thrilling win in 36.5 overs.
