Shirui Lily Fest: Kashong Timrawon Cup underway

The Kashong Timrawon Cup 6-a-side football tournament, a side event of the 5th State Level Shirui Lily Festival 2025, is currently underway since May 20 at Ramngashim Turf Ground, Lanaitang, Ukhrul.
Organised by the Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA) in connection with the 5 th state-level Shirui Lily Festival, the tournament will culminate on May 24.Organising committee member Ngakuimi Awungshi said that the tournament is being organised to promote football as well as brotherhood and friendship in the state.
He informed that a total of 16 football clubs from across the state are competing in this knockout-style soccer tournament.
FC Avengers triumphed over Ukhrul FC with a score of 8-2, while NCYWO overcame Ukhrul Rising FC in penalty shootout (3-2) after normal period ended in a 3-3 stalemate.
Bull's United defeated The Wanderers FC 7-3, and Rahee United FC edged past Ruivah Brothers FA 5-4 .
Football, a cherished sport among the Tangkhul Naga community, has attracted large crowds to the artificial turf ground each day.
Thursday's match between Bull United Club and Fauji featured a thrilling finish, with Bull United narrowly winning 8-7.With four matches scheduled daily, fans are enjoying a series of action-packed games as teams demonstrate exceptional skill and sportsmanship.
This event, initiated by UDSA, marks one of the first football tournaments ever organised during the Shirui Lily Festival.
The winners of the Kashong Timrawon Cup will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 75,000 .
The two semi-finalists will each get Rs 25,000, and all participating teams will be given Rs 10,000 as a token of encouragement.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, an exhibition match will take place on May 23 .
