CYCLONE down TRAU by two wkts in MNCA Elite Tournament

Imphal, February 20 2025: CYCLONE clinched a two-wicket win over TRAU, chasing down a modest target of 131 in 33.4 overs, in their league clash in the MNCA Elite Tournament at Lairenjam Public Ground on Thursday.

The match showcased a gripping battle between CYCLONE's disciplined bowling attack and TRAU's resilient but ultimately insufficient fightback.

Opting to bat first, TRAU faltered against CYCLONE'S clinical bowling unit, crumbling to 131 all out in 38.1 overs.

The innings lacked momentum as only five batters reached double digits: Mutum Swabhiman and Sanjembam Somokanta Khuman (both 19), Pukhrambam Prafullomani (14), Priyojit Kangabam (13), and Preethson Arubam CYCLONE's bowlers shared the spoils, with Nongthombam Denin, Suraj Nong, and Loktongbam Santosh Meitei striking twice each, while Md Aqeel and Kishan Laishram chipped in with a wicket apiece.

In response, CYCLONE faced early jitters when their number two batter Ningthoujam Thoiba and number three Al Bashid fell for 4 and 10, respectively.

However, they anchored their chase through collaborative efforts.

Loktongbam Santosh Meitei (24) and Kishan Laishram (23) provided stability, while Maisnam Raju's unbeaten 19 steered the team home.

Also, contributions from Md Aqeel (12) and Muhammed Al Bashid (10) proved vital.

TRAU's bowlers fought valiantly, led by Mutum Swabhiman's three-wicket haul and Priyojit Kangabam and Sanjembam Somokanta's dual strikes, but fell short of defending their total.
