Tennis player Shankar Meisnam presented cash prize

Imphal, August 11 2024: Shankar Meisnam, who won the singles and doubles titles at the ITF World Tennis Tour G-30 Junior Ranking Tournament organised by Chhattisgarh State Tennis Association and All India Tennis Association (AITA) at Raipur International Tennis Stadium, Chhattisgarh from March 23 to 30, was felicitated and presented with cash prize of Rs 50,000 by ITF senior player Moirangthem Dilip on Sunday.

Speaking at the programme held at his Sagolband Moirang Leirak residence, Dilip informed that he had earlier made announcement of Rs 50,000 to winners of International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament as an encouragement for state's tennis players.

He also termed as a proud moment for the state that the dream had been made true by Shankar Meisnam.

On the other hand, Shankar thanked Dilip for the cash incentive as it is the first time in his tennis career that he has been honoured and rewarded.

He also conveyed that such encouragement will motivate him to strive for achieving more in future tournaments.
