MPSC-B, Black Watch ease into 31st Governor's Cup Polo tourney semis

Imphal, April 11 2025: MPSC-B and Black Watch cruised into the semifinals of the 31st Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament 2025 with commanding victories in their opening matches at Mapal Kangjeibung on Friday.

MPSC-B secured their place in the last four with a resounding 9-1 win over Assam Rifles Polo Team.

The match began evenly, with both sides level at 1-1 after the first chukker - M Kumber opening the scoring for Assam Rifles, while T Pradeep struck back for MPSC .

MPSC-B surged ahead in the second chukker, adding more goals through Pradeep (his second of the match) and H Abungkhuman, taking a 3-1 lead.

They extended their dominance in the third chukker, with Pradeep completing his hat-trick and O Suresh adding another to make it 5-1 .

The police riders sealed the victory in style, netting four more goals in the final chukker.

S Abungcha scored twice, while Suresh (his second) and S Bimol contributed one apiece to complete the emphatic win.

Meanwhile, Black Watch booked their semifinal berth with a 6-1 drubbing of Tentha Polo Club.

They steadily built their lead, scoring once in each of the first three chukkers through Th Nongpoknganba, P Ojit and S Bonbon.

Nongpoknganba then took centre stage in the final chukker, adding two more to complete his hat-trick, while A Alex chipped in with another goal to cap off a dominant performance.
