Manipur's athletes delivered a spectacular performance in Sepaktakraw while facing tough challenges across other disciplines on Wednesday at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025.The state asserted their supremacy in Sepaktakraw with both men's and women's teams advancing to Thursday 's semifinals in dominant fashion.
the boys' squad swept Group B with perfect 2-0 victories over Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Kerala, showcasing remarkable consistency.
Their female counterparts mirrored this success with identical 2-0 triumphs against Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar.
The success was tempered by setbacks in other events.
The volleyball team's gold medal hopes were dashed after a disappointing 0-3 semifinal loss to Jammu & Kashmir.
They'll now face Punjab in Thursday's bronze medal playoff.
On the football pitch, the women's team suffered a 0-2 defeat against Haryana, while the men s hockey team opened their campaign with a 2-5 loss to Uttar Pradesh.
In table tennis, Segal Singh had a mixed run, defeating Karnataka 3-2 but losing to Himachal Pradesh 1-3, ending his campaign with one win and two losses.
Cycling events also proved challenging, with Huirom Suraj, Th Gyananta, Daya Keisham, and H Thajamanbi failing to secure podium finishes in their respective sprint and pursuit races.
Judoka Yumnam Yohenba came agonisingly close to a medal before losing in the -60kg bronze medal match.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on Manipur's Sepak Takraw teams as they continue their quest for gold in Thursday's semifinals.
