School Sports: Imphal East teams, Thoubal, Chandel in volleyball finals

Imphal, January 04 2025: Thoubal and Imphal East will square off in the boys' volleyball final, while Chandel will face Imphal East in the girls' summit clash at the State Level School Sports Meet 2024-25, organised by Directorate of Education (Schools at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

In the boys' first semifinal match, Thoubal had little trouble beating Chandel 25-12, 25-10, 25 13 for their place in the final.

On the other hand, Imphal East overpowered Wangoi 25-6, 25-6, 25-3 in the second semifinal.

In the girls' category, Imphal East advanced to the final after defeating both Kakching and Wangoi, while Chandel clinched their spot by overcoming Imphal West.

In football, Wangoi and Chandel achieved contrasting victories.

Wangoi delivered a commanding 6-0 win over Tengnoupal, with Sh Manisana scoring twice and L Roshan, Ch Lanchenba.

Albert Thingujam, and L Sushil contributing one goal each.

Chandel edged past Kakching 2-1, with goals from Nula Thangval Anal and Shelpa Langhu, while Yengkhom Jenit scored the sole goal for Kakching.

The athletics events saw notable performances as well.

In the senior boys' 100m race, Ch Sanamatum claimed the gold medal, while Sh Nicola Devi triumphed in the senior girls' event.

In the junior 100m category, Th Malemnganba took first place in the boys' event, and J Joey secured the gold in the girls' race.

The junior 400m races were won by W Rahul (boys) and L Gracy Chanu (girls), both earning top honours in their respective categories.
