MU enter final of East Zone varsity tennis meet

Imphal, October 28 2024: Manipur University men's team on Monday cruised in to final of the East Zone Inter University Tennis (Men & Women) Championship 2024-25 being held at KISS University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

In the semi-final match, MU defeated MG Kashi Vidyapith University by 2-0 sets, with Bhicky Sagolshem beating Anand Prakash Gupta (6-1, 7-6(3)) in first singles and Bhusan Haobam trouncing Faizur Rehman (6-0, 6-1) in second.

In the pre-quarter match played earlier in the day, MU triumphed over Centurion University by 2-0 sets.

In the first singles match, Bhicky overpowered Amrutjay Mohanty (1-6, 6-3, 3-1 retired), while in second singles, Bhusan Haobam outplayed Subhranil Barman (6-1, 6-0) .

MU will face Jadavpur University in the submit clash on Tuesday.

By reaching the final, MU have already qualified for the All India Tennis and Khelo India University Games 2024-25 .
