9th MNCA Elite: MODEL, REYS script commanding wins

Imphal, January 25 2025: MODEL and REYS recorded convincing victories in Saturday's league round matches of the 9th MNCA Elite Tournament 2024-25.MODEL outclassed CRAU by 5 wickets in their meeting at Model Hr Sec & Oriental College Ground.

Opting to field first, MODEL skittled out CRAU for 175 in 40 overs as Waikhom Priyokumar led the attack with 3 scalps, followed by Robertson Laishram and Anand Naorem who both picked up 2 wickets, with Dibak Naorem and Bisal Ningombam adding a wicket apiece.

For CRAU, Lamabam Jotin (32), Khumanthem Prakash (34) and Ayekpam Rakesh (29) were the main run-getters in their innings.

In reply, MODEL needed 30.4 overs to eclipse the opposition's total as Kisan Wahengbam led the way, scoring 66.He was ably supported by Maisnam Tejkumar, who hit 54, and Langlonyamba M, who was unbeaten on 37 .

Anand Naorem (12) and Bijenkumar Nongmaithem (8 not out) also contributed in their commanding win.

In the process, MODEL lost 5 wickets.

REYS, meanwhile, secured a 4-wicket win over SCCC at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal.

Batting first, SCCC were all out for 134 in 35.2 overs.

Only Khaidem Joyraj Meitei (28) and Moirangthem Satish Kumar (23) were the batters who managed to cross the 20-run mark in their innings.

Kiran Laishram led a disciplined REYS' bowling attack with 3 wickets, while Dingku G, Sapam Bikash and Pinkey Sanasam each took 2 wickets, with Basir Rahman contributing one to lay the foundation for their side's victory.

REYS then surpassed SCCC's total in 36 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Jaali Ahmed Chisti (48), KKV Mustaque (38 not out), Nanao Laishram (14), Kiran Laishram (12) and Yungkham Romario Roy (4 not out), Sougrakpam Shangkar (4) and Naoshekpam Manglemba (3) were the contributors i n their triumph.
