1st Winter Arm Wrestling C'ship held

Imphal, January 13 2025: Imphal West District Armwrestling Association (IWDAA), under the supervision of Manipur Armwrestling Association (MAWA), organised the 1st Winter Cash Prize Armwrestling Championship 2025 on January 11 and 12 at Laishram Manaobi Youth Integration Club (YIC) ground, Keishamthong Longjam Leikai.

As per a release of IWDAA, the competition was held in 55kg, 65kg, 75 kg, above 75 kg and left hand open categories.

Athokpam Punshiba (Heritage Convent) won the gold medal, Laishram Benalay (Diligent Public School) silver and Darwin Kongkham (Catholic School) bronze in 55 kg men category.

G Rohit Sharma (Galaxy Institute) won the gold medal, W Lanchenba (MTU) silver and Amom Lankhomba (YIC) took the bronze medal in 65 kg men category.

In 75 Kg men, Huirem Kheljit Meitei (Pioneer Gym) won the gold medal, Ashajit W (Goly Gym) the silver medal and Thounaojam Malemnganba (UNACCO School) the bronze medal.

Khwairakpam Sanjit Kumar (YIC) bagged the gold medal, Mutum Jiban (MPSC) silver and Aditya Singh Wairokpam the bronze medal in above 75 kg men category.

In left open men category, Aditya Singh Wairokpam took the gold medal, Gurumayum Rohit Sharma (Galaxy Institute) the silver medal and K Lanchenba (Sagolmang High School) the bronze medal.

The closing function of the tournament was attended by CAU retired dean L Joykumar alias Gopal as chief guest, MAWA presidents Yumlembam Meiraba Luwang alias Jayenta and L Sharat Singh as presidents and MAWA vice president L Deben Singh as guest of honour, the release added.
