68th NSC Championships in weight lifting & Thang-Ta conclude

Imphal, April 12 2025:
The 68th National School Games Championships 2024-25 for Weightlifting (U-17 Boys & Girls) and Thang-Ta (U-14 & U-19 Boys & Girls) concluded here on Saturday.
Organised by the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, Manipur, under the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), the event saw participation from over 860 athletes and officials representing 28 states and union territories.
The weightlifting competitions, held at SAI Takyel Indoor Hall, showcased remarkable displays of strength and technique.
Manipur dominated the discipline, securing the overall team championship title with 424 points.
In the U-17 boys category, Manipur claimed first place (192 points), followed by Punjab (188 points) .
The U-17 Girls category also saw Manipur triumph (232 points), with Maharashtra as runners-up (210 points).
Thang-Ta, Manipur's indig-enous martial art, was held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, with the host state sweeping all categories.
Manipur emerged as the overall team champions in U-14 and U-19 categories for both boys and girls, with Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Jammu & Kashmir securing runners-up positions in respective categories.
The event was inaugurated on April 7 by N Praveen Singh, secretary (YAS), and concluded on Saturday with a ceremony presided over by Dr Mayengbam Veto Singh, director (YAS) .
Medals and trophies were awarded to top performers, with Olympian N Kunjarani Devi and other dignitaries in attendance.
The Department expressed gratitude to participants, officials, and local authorities for their support.
The next leg of the Championships, featuring football and sepaktakraw, Will be held in Imphal from April 15 to 21, 2025 .
