Grishma Yatin, Shah Hussain, Gulbhar win gold in 68th NSG Weightlifting

Imphal, April 11 2025:
Grishma Yatin Thorat of Maharashtra, Shah Hussain of Haryana, and Gulbhar of Uttar Pradesh won gold medals today in the ongoing 68th National School Games Weightlifting for U-17 boys and girls hosted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur at SAI NERC Takyelpat.
Grishma Yatin Thorat of Maharashtra won the gold medal in the girls' 76 kg category competition as she successfully completed 73 kg lift in snatch and 91 kg in clean and jerk to amass 164 kg.
It was a closely fought competition with B Rochismathz of Andhra Pradesh finishing 1 kg behind the cumulative lift of Grishma Yatin.
B Rochismathz matched her Maharashtra rival's 73 kg lift in snatch but managed 90 kg in clean and jerk to settle for the silver medal.
Pari Beldar of Madhya Pradesh in the meantime bagged the bronze medal by completing 65 kg in snatch and 84 kg in clean and jerk.
Shah Hussain of Haryana meanwhile clinched the gold medal in the boys' 89 kg category competition with a cumulative lift of 260 kg, 120 in snatch and 140 in clean and jerk.
Rehan Khan of Chhattisgarh finished second in the competition recording 109 kg in snatch and 136 kg in clean and jerk to amass 245 kg while Gurkirat Singh of Punjab finished third with an aggregate lift of 244 kg, 110 in snatch and 134 in clean and jerk.
Gulbhar of Uttar Pradesh on the other hand upstaged Hasrat Singh of Punjab by just 1 kg to seal the gold medal in the keenly contested boys' 96 kg category competition.
Gulbhar managed 110 kg in snatch and highest 145 kg in clean and jerk to finish on top with an overall lift of 255 kg while Hasrat Singh recorded highest 114 kg in snatch but could complete 140 kg lift in clean and jerk, 5 points behind Gulbhar, to finish with an overall lift of 244 kg.
Pratham of Haryana meanwhile bagged the bronze medal with an overall 222 kg finish, 98 kg in snatch and 124 kg in clean and jerk.
The day also saw Anandi Vinod Sangale of Maharashtra securing gold medal in the girls' 81 kg category competition.
Anandi Vinod Sangale finished on top with a total of 164 kg lift, 73 kg in snatch and 91 kg in clean and jerk.
Manipur's Hawaibam Panthoi however settled for a silver medal amassing 148 kg, recording 65 kg in snatch and 83 kg in clean and jerk.
Navpreet Kaur of Punjab in the meantime sealed the bronze medal by recording a total lift of 143 kg, 66 kg in snatch and 77 kg in clean and jerk.
