All Manipur Open Mukta Tournament 2025 kicks off

Imphal, August 09 2025: The All Manipur Open Mukta Tournament 2025, organised by the Arambai Tengol Unit-39, got underway on Saturday at Khuman Mini Stadium, Mayang Imphal Konchak.

The competition features two weight categories - under 65 kg, with 59 participants, and above 65 kg, with 33 participants.

A total of 92 contestants from across the state are taking part in the event.

The opening ceremony was attended by former Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency MLA Dr Khumujam Ratankumar, chief advisor of the CMP Koingamba Khuman, Arambai Tengol's second-in-command army chief Samananda Meitei, and commanders of various units.

Speaking at the opening event, Dr Ratankumar highlighted the importance of cultural preservation amidst the impacts of globalisation.

He stressed the need to protect and nurture indigenous sports, such as Mukna and Thang-Ta.
