Muvanlai thump MPSC 4-0, KIYC down SCC 2-1 in State League

Imphal, September 05 2022: Muvanlai Athletics (MA) romped past Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) 4-0 as Kshetri Iril Mapal Youth Club (KIYC) notched up a 2-1 win over Ganggam Soccer Club (SCC) in the 15th Manipur State League 2022 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, on Monday.

Thangkhanlen Khongsai scored twice in MA's 4-0 hammering of MPSC.

After a futile first half, the Muvanlai squad showed their intent and urgency in the second period as they went all out to find the breakthrough in the 54th minute.

It was Ng Bedeenpar Moyon who put his side ahead with a clam finish.

After the opener, MA ramped up the intensity at the other end and were soon rewarded with a quick double to go 3-0 up in a span of 11 minutes.

In a goalmouth melee, Thangkhanlen Khongsai was on hand to slot home their second goal in the 63rd minute.

Two minutes later, Muvanlai roared into action again to set up Mangtinsei Robert Touthang who made no mistake in drilling a shot into the top corner.

As MPSC remained clueless, Muvanlai kept up their good form upfront as they dodged through the opposition defence at will.

And Thangkhanlen was at it again in the 81st minute to round off the scoring for the eventual 4-0 result.

Later in the day, KIYC rode on Ronald Shaikhom's brace to beat SCC 2-1.Goals eluded both sides throughout the first-first contest and KIYC finally broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 75th minute after Ronald made his strike count.

SCC, however, responded in a matter of three minutes with Robertchungminlen Misao on target, making it all square.

The 1-1 scoreline did not last long as KIYC produced another set piece to set up Ronald to score his second goal in the 85th minute and went on to collect all three points.
