Chumbang, Charangching qualify for 2nd round

Chandel, October 04 2013 : Purum Chumbang Youth Club and Charang Ching Khullen have moved into the second round of Ist Phantu Cup Football Tournament, 2013 defeating their respective rival teams.

In the matches played at the ground of Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School, Japhou Bazar here today, Purum Chumbang Youth Club defeated Nungpan Youth Club by 2-1 and Charang Ching Khullen outsmarted Chandel Khullen by 4-3 goals.

In the first match, Purum ChumBang Youth Club and Nungpan Youth Club started playing on equal-footing till the end of first half with both teams scoring one goal each.

Nungpan's midfielder Hmangam (Jersey No 16) opened the first account of his team in the 7th minute of the play.

Four minutes later, Leringam (Jersey No 11) of Chumbang equalised the score.

The second half of the play also started on equal footing.

But Chumbang's Rulthou (Jersey No 9) kicked the second and winning goal of his team in the 65th minute of the play, thus, making his team to qualify for the second round.

In the second match, Charangching knocked out Chandel Khullen 4-3 when its star players Renglun (Jersey No 15), Rengkanthang (jersey no.16) and Rishangam (Jersey No 7) scored one goal each in the 5th, 7th and 28th minute respectively.

A suicide goal also came in favour of the team, thus, sealing the fate of the game and qualifying itself to move to the next round of the tournament.

The three goals of Chandel Khullen came from Zion Pashel (Jersey No 7), Bekan (Jersey No 8) and Kagaly (Jersey No 11) in the 12th, 15th and 71 minute of the match respectively.

On October 10, Purum Chumbang Youth Club will take on Host LYCC-A whereas Charanching Khullen will clash with the winner of the second match scheduled on October 5 between New Wangparal and UNISA.

One For All (OFA) FC will take on RMS United in the first match on October 5 .
