Medallist M Rabichandra receives hero's welcome

Kakching, August 02 2025:
Kakching celebrated its hometown hero, Mayanglambam Rabichandra, on Saturday as the community honoured the silver medallist of the 12th Asian Wushu Championship (July 23-30, Jiangyin, China) with a grand felicitation at his native town.
Rabichandra, competing in the 56kg category, impressed with his performance in the sanda event, ultimately earning the silver medal.
Hailing from Phoushupat Leikai, Kakching, he is the son of Mayanglambam Sanayaima and Inaobi Devi.
A dedicated student of Naorem Niroda, Rabichandra trains at the NN Mangang Wushu Academy located at Turel Achouba Pareng, Kakching Moirangthem Leikai.
Under the guidance of Niroda, the Academy has over 70 active Wushu practitioners currently training.
Rabichandra's recent achievement in China follows a series of notable performances earlier this year.
In June, he clinched a gold medal at the Moscow Stars International Wushu Championship in Russia.
Additionally, he won gold at the 25th Sub Junior National Wushu Championship held in Tamil Nadu in May.
Upon his return to Manipur through Imphal International Airport, Rabichandra received a warm and enthusiastic welcome.
A celebratory procession accompanied him from the airport to his hometown in Kakching.
A special felicitation ceremony was organised at the NN Mangang Wushu Academy, where both Rabichandra and his coach were honoured.
Speaking at the event, Rabichandra expressed deep gratitude to his coach Naorem Niroda and his family for their unwavering support and encouragement.
Coach Naorem Niroda, who established the NN Mangang Wushu Academy on January 23, 2023, has played a pivotal role in the development of young martial artists in the region.
Following Rabichandra's early success, he was selected to train with the Boys Sports Company at the Assam Rifles Centre in Shillong, further honing his skills.
