Manipur pile up 27 medals at 23rd Junior Wushu Nationals

Imphal, July 29 2024: Manipur team have racked up as many as 27 medals including 11 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze at the 23rd Junior National Wushu Championship 2024 which is underway since July 26 in Tamil Nadu.

Thoungamba Aheibam and Wangthoi Thangjam respectively won a silver and a bronze in the Changquan event at the championship as Tongbram Saya win a bronze in the girl's competition.

Jollyson Thangjam in the meantime won a gold medal in the boys' Nanquan event and Okram Iyathoi bagged a silver.

In the Taijiquan event, Ngamba Aheibam bagged a gold medal as Wahengbam Bhumeshore and Taruba Khuraijam settled respectively for a silver and a bronze medal.

In the girls' Taijiquan event, Jona won a gold medal while Olica bagged a bronze.

Taijishan: Bhumeshore clinched a gold medal in the boys' Taijishan event as Taruba Khuraijam bagged a bronze while Jona Princie took a gold in the girls event and Tomthinganbi picked a silver.

Ngamba Aheibam also won a Taijijian gold in the boys competition as Linthoingambi bagged a silver medal.

Wangthoi in the meantime won a silver medal in the Daoshu event for boys as Kajal settled for a bronze medal.

Iyathoi and Jollyson further stretched State's medal tally winning a gold and a silver respectively in the Nandao competition as Thounganba bagged a Gunshu silver.

In the Nangun event, Iyathoi and Jollyson added a gold and a bronze medal to the State's tally.

Nganthoiba and Yaiphaba bagged a gold and a silver medal in the boys' Taichi Type Traditional Event as Khuraijam Sunila picked a gold in the girls event.

Luhenbi also added a gold medal to Manipur's tally topping the Nan Type competition.

More medals are also assured at the championship for Manipur as M Borish (48 kg), Kh Jetish (52 kg), N Prithiviraj (56 kg), N Thoithoiba (65 kg), and A Arnold (70 kg), N Henry (75 kg) have progressed into the semi-finals of boys' Sanda event.

T Silvia (56 kg) and N Abenao (60 kg) have also reached the girls' Sanda semifinals.
