Lamka, October 28 2008:
The sixth edition of the inter-hill district badminton championship began here today with over 80 shuttlers vying for top honour at Lamka Community Hall.
The championship is being organised to strengthen bond of brotherhood of the hill tribes and to encourage the players aim for excellence, according to T Panmei (IAS), President of the Inter-Hill District Badminton Association, Manipur.
the championship will have competition in 11 categories during the four day event.
Churachandpur and Chandel top number of participants with 25 each, while Tamenglong and Senapati sending 15 and 11 players each.
Ukhrul district has the least number of participants at nine.
