Manipur emerge National Deadlift team champions; H Hrithikraj, L Maheshwor seal Strongman Trophies

Imphal, April 28 2026: Manipur were crowned the National Deadlift team champions at the Unequipped Sub-Junior Powerlifting and All Age Category Deadlift Championship that concluded today at Udaipur, Rajasthan with a haul of 7 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Manipur overall secured 10 gold, 8 silver and 2 bronze medals with 4 medals secured in powerlifting competition.

Langpokpaklakpam Maheshwor, who competed in both the junior and senior powerlifting and deadlift competition and Hanjabam Hrithikraj Sharma who competed in the junior powerlifting and deadlift competition were also conferred Strongman Trophies for their exceptional performances in the junior and senior category competitions.

Competing in the Junior men's 83 kg category competition, Hanjabam Hrithikraj Shanna bagged a powerlifting gold medal with a 620 kg finish and a silver medal in the deadlift competition by posting 245 kg lift.

Notably, Hrithikraj is the son of The Sangai Express' News Editor Hanjabam Rajendrakumar of Wangkhei Khunou.

Langpoklakpam Mahesh-kumar Singh meanwhile bagged the junior men's 105 kg category powerlifting gold with a 660 kg lift and grabbed a silver and a gold medal respectively for the junior and senior categories in the deadlift event with the 247.5 kg finish.

Topper Athokpam (junior men's 66 kg) also secured a gold medal in the deadlift event with a 230 kg lift and settled for a silver medal in the powerlifting competition with a 530 kg finish.

Ninthoujam Kiranjit, meanwhile secured a silver medal in the masters' 66 kg category deadlift competition with a 135 kg lift and a bronze medal in the senior category with the same score.

Thangshabam Shantikumar Singh also bagged a silver medal in the masters' 74 kg deadlift competition by recording 162.5 kg lift.

Waikhom Jayantakumar also shone with a gold and a silver medal each by posting 172.5 kg lift in masters and senior category competitions.

Wairokpam Premkumar on the other hand registered a silver medal in the masters' 83 kg deadlift competition with a 145 kg finish as Thounaojam Zewel Singh picked the masters' 83 kg category gold with a 170 kg finish.

Tourangbam Ginot Singh also won Manipur a bronze medal in the senior men's 83 kg category deadlift competition with a 225 kg lift.

Joseph Moirangthem meanwhile struck double titles in the sub-junior men's 93 kg category powerlifting and deadlift events as he recorded 495 kg and 190 kg respectively to top in both the events.

Laishram Boby was able to add a silver medal to Manipur's deadlift tally by posting 157.5 kg lift in the masters' 93 kg category as Thingbaijam Premmojit registered double gold medal in the 120 kg senior and masters category competitions with a 215 kg lift.
