Roles of sponsors, sports enthusiasts underscored as Manipur Rifles Assn inaugurates new shooting ranges

Imphal, July 27 2024: Presence of dedicated sponsors, enthusiasts and supporters are key to the prominence and growth of a sports discipline, said District Magistrate of Imphla West, Thokchom Kirankumar.

He was speaking at the inauguration function of newly constructed shooting ranges of Manipur Rifles Association at Taothong, Lamsang in Imphal West this morning.

Speaking as the chief guest, he acknowledged the role of sponsors and supporters without whom the growth of sports movement in the State is impossible.

Without dedicated sponsors and enthusiasts, no sports discipline can survive, he said while stressing on the need of renewed support to bolster the sporting movement in the State.

The launch function was also attended by Rajkumar Ranendrajit, convenor, Sports Movement Committee Manipur; Sandham Loken, president, Lamshang Football Club, Taothong and Moirangthem Rachandra, president Manipur Rifles Association, Imphal.

Delivering the welcome address, secretary of Manipur Rifles Association, N Rajendro said that construction work of the newly inaugurated shooting ranges was started back in 2014 with the love and support of the people.

Although the shooting ranges have been inaugurated, it is yet to be fully constructed, he added.
