Imphal, June 27 2026: Rated player H Somokanta is unbeaten and in the pole position on 6.5 points after 7 rounds in the ongoing 8th Khuraijam Ramnarayan Shastri Memorial Open Chess Tournament at Wangkhei High School Campus.

Somokanta will play close contender Kh Sanjoy, who has amassed 6 points so far, in the next round.

Other title contenders closely following Somokanta on 6 points apiece include Atembi Laishram and Naoremcha Yoihenba.
