MU Inter College Handball : Pravabati College, SSGG College crowned men and women's champions

Imphal, October 26 2024: Hosts SSGG College were crowned of the Sanoujam (O) Ayekpam Nalini Devi Memorial Championship Trophy for Manipur University Inter College Women's Handball Tournament 2024-25 while Pravabati College sealed the Capt Sanoujam Ingo Singh (Retd) Championship Trophy for Manipur University Inter College Men's Handball Tournament 2024-25 title.

The tournaments were hosted by Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' (SSGG) College at YLK ground, Chingarel Tejpur under the auspices of the Manipur University Sports Committee, Canchipur.

In the women's final, league winners SSGG defeated league runners up Biramangol College (BMC), Sawombung by 22-10 goals to earn the top honour.

Th Jenila led the scoring for the hosts adding 7 goals alone as Th Anjubala and K Sonia scored four goals apiece.

H Jenita and I Ronibala also added three goals each while L Umabati picked one.

Kh Meloda and A Roshni scored three points each in the final match for BMC as Deepa N, Th Anjali, H Chaoba and S Priyanka scored a point apiece.

Earlier in the women's last league match, SSGG defeated BMC by 11-4 goals riding on goals from I Ronibala (5), Th Jenila (3), Th Anjubala (2) and H Jenita (1).Kh Meloda and Ksh Bhumika scored 2 points apiece for BMC in this match.

Meanwhile in the men's title clash, A Premson and Roshikanta Sharma scored 9 points apiece to hand league runners up Pravabati College a 31-29 win over league winners BMC.

A Tondonba (7), Yaiphaba Th (3), Naresh Sharma (2) and Yaikhomba A (1) also scored it for Pravabati College.

Beckham (9), L Hemba (7) and K Rajeswor (6) led the scoring for BMC in the final as N Shitaljit and L Gautam scored three points apiece and Y Chinglensana added one.

Earlier in the day, Naorem Birahari College defeated MU by 12-5 goals in a dead rubber match before BMC defeated Pravati College 15-11 in the match that decided group winners.

N Shitaljit (4), K Rajeswor (4), L Hemba (3), L Beckham (1), Y Chinglensana (1) and L Gautam (2) were on target for BMC as A Yaikhomba (4), A Tondonba (2), A Premson (2), A Manichandra (2) and Sh Roshikanta (1) scored for Pravabati College.
