Imphal, July 26: Sainik School, Imphal emerged as the champions of the East Zone Sainik School Sports and Co-curricular Activities Championship held at Goalpara (Assam) under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence from July 21 till 23 .

According to statement issued by the PRO of PIB (DW) four Sainik Schools from Purulia (West Bengal) and Punglwa (Nagaland) besides Imphal and the hosts participated at the championship with the eventual champions outclassing their rivals in basketball, football (U-14 & 17) and debate competitions.

Cadets Lalhriatpuia, Roshan Kumar and Kinley Wangchuk of the Imphal institution were respectively declared the best player in junior category, best discipline Cadet and best basketball player of the championship.

In the junior group debate competition, Sainik School, Imphal was declared the overall champion while securing the second position in the senior group quiz competition.
