2nd Premier League : Amujao sets up AIM 2-1 comeback win as SSU, WAFA share spoils

Imphal, June 26 2025:
Thiyam Amujao scored a second half brace to set up Anouba Imagi Mangai (AIM), Khabam a 2-1 comeback win against Kshetri Iril Mapal Youth Club, Kshetri Awang Leikai in a 2nd Premier League Group B match at Langjing Achouba Turf Ground.
Coming off from a dominating 3-0 win against Sagolband United in their previous match, KIYC enjoyed dominance in the opening half and were leading by 1-0 at halftime thanks to Khumanthem Taibanganba's goal in the 29th minute.
AIM, who were unable to find their composure in the first half, however found their form in the second half successfully drew level through Thiyam Amujao in the 52nd minute.
AIM did not sit back following the equaliser and overturned the lead in the 61 minutes with Thiyam Amujao striking yet again.
AIM then kept their lead intact by overcoming KIYC's bid to come back into the game.
With the win, AIM ended their Group campaign on 7 points while KIYC remained ahead by just one point from two wins and two draws in seven matches.
Earlier in the day, Wangoi Football Association (WAFA) and Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei played out a 1-1 draw in a Group A match.
SSU led the first half 1-0 through Usham Robert's 7th minute goal but Chirom Shinivash pulled level for WAFA in the 65th minute to salvage a point.
The result lifted SSU to second place on 14 points (4 wins and 2 draws) behind FC Raengdai who are unbeaten in 7 matches that included 6 wins.
WAFA in the meantime remain in the 4th place on 11 points having won three times and drawn once in the last 6 matches.
RAU will play AFC in the next Group A match tomorrow at Langjing Achouba Turf Ground from 11.45 am before NISA play ASUFII in a Group B match later at the same venue from 2 pm .
