MGMC crowned overall champions in State Age Group Aquatics Championships

MGMC were crowned the overall champions of the 37th State Age Group Aquatics Championships organised by the Manipur Swimming Association at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
MGMC collected as many as 8 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals to secure the top honour as CSC finished runners up with as many as 5 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze medals.
T Phulen, Director Youth Affairs and Sports; W Sushilkumar, retired Joint Director YAS and T Thouba, president Manipur Swimming Association graced the valedictory function of the two-day championship as dignitaries who also led in felicitating the prize winners.

Laitonjam Lanchenba of CSC sealed the 100 m butterfly gold medal for Group II boys today as he finished with the best time of 1:01.28.His compatriot David Sapam secured the silver medal in the event taking 1:06.54 as Ch Robertson of TYC took 1:13.62 to settle for the bronze medal.
Lanchenba also won the 50 m butterfly with a 27.59 seconds finish as David Sapam (29.02 s) and Ch Robertson (31.6 s) finished second and third.
In the Group II boys 100 m butterfly competition, Koijam Athoiba of HLSYDO won the gold medal taking 30.79 seconds as L Himanshu (32.06 s) of Ideal Club and L Punghen (32.09 s) finished second and third.
N Budhachandra of MGMC in the meantime claimed the 100 m backstroke gold for Group JI boys taking 1:12.08 as L Bishorjit of TYC (1:15.65) and Thangjam Langamba of CSC (1:19.24) finished second and third.
Meanwhile S Luchingba of TYC (1:25.09) won the gold medal in the 100 m back-stroke competition for Group III girls.
The day also saw Koijam Athoiba of HLSYDO win both the 100 m and 50 m freestyle competition gold medals for Group III boys.
He sealed the 100 m gold medal with a time of 1:02.32 before taking 27.28 seconds to seal the 50 m gold.
Meanwhile, Lanchenba of CSC (39.32 s) won the 50 m freestyle gold medal for Group IV boys as Budhachandra of MGMC took 26.44 seconds to win the 50 m freestyle gold medal for Group II boys.
Panthoi Sagolshem of TYC (32.82 s) and Christina of HLSYDO (36.73 s) were able to seal the 50 m freestyle gold medals for Group II and III girls.
N Budhachandra of MGMC went on to win two more gold medals as he topped the 200 m and 100 m freestyle titles for Group II boys by posting best times of 2:16.06 and 59.73 seconds respectively.
