Luchingbi wins 50 m breaststroke gold at 37th State Aquatics C'ships

Imphal, May 25 2024: Luchingbi of TYC sealed the gold medal in the group III girls 50 m breaststroke competition at the 37th State Age Group Aquatics Championships organised by the Manipur Swimming Association at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

Luchingbi clocked 44.40 seconds to top the competition as Christina of HLSYDO swam 46.31 seconds and S Chanchan of SEDOC took 48.03 seconds to secure the second and the third spots.

Luching Sharungbam of HLSYDO clinched the 50 m breaststroke gold medal in the Boys' Group IV competition as he finished with the best time of 50 seconds.

S Yohen of MGMC finished second in the competition taking 1 minute 4.78 seconds while England Loitongbam of NLM finished third in 1 minute 10.3 seconds.

The day also saw Leishangthem Saiyombi of TYC (52.16 seconds) and Panthoi of TYC (43.48 seconds) securing first place in the Girls Group VI and Group II 50 breaststroke competitions.

Meanwhile, Leikhuram Piouson (1:22.21) of WYLCO, Sushma Leimapokpam (1:45.57) of NLM and Christina Mangang (1:41.83) of HLSYDO topped 100 m breaststroke competitions for Boys Group I, Girls Group II and Girls Group III.

L Piouson also bagged the 50 m breaststroke gold medal for Boys Group I with a time of 35.48 seconds as Suranjit Puyam of HLSYDO (36.05 s) and Ng Sinajit of KYO (37.78 s) finished second and third.

Piouson also claimed the 200 m event with a time of 3:09.05.M Arindam of Ideal Club in the meantime won the Boys Group III 100 m breaststroke gold medal finishing the course in 1:22.01 as L Punghen of CSC and Soram Pieterson of CSC took 1:28.78 and 1:31.64 to seal the second and third spot.

Backstroke

Gaithulung Golmei of Ideal Club secured two back-stroke gold medals in the 50 m and 100 m events for Boys Group I taking 35.61 seconds and 1 minute 27.17 seconds respectively as L Sayonbi Chanu of TYC (39.74 seconds), S Lanchenbi of TYC (38.32 seconds) and Siddhika Huidrom of MGMC (40.83 seconds) won gold medals in Girls's Group IV, Group II and Group I 50 m competitions.

S Rohen of MGMC in the meantime took the 50 m gold medal for Boys Group IV taking 58.28 seconds to finish ahead of Rosenberg Konthoujam of CSC (1:03.68) and Laishram Lanchenba (1:06.12) of CSC.

Nongmaithem Dhananjoy of NLM in the meantime secured 200 m Breaststroke gold medal for Boys Group II taking best 2:56.10 as David Sapam of CSC (3:11.34) and Rodick Wangkheirakpam of TYC (3:24.23) finished second and third.

In the 100 m backstroke competition for Group II boys, M Arindam of Ideal Club clinched the gold medal taking 1:24.40 as S Pieterson of CSC (1:28.37) and L Mangalsana of TYC (1:47.20) finished second and third to secure the silver and bronze medals.

Nillie Ningthoujam of TYC meanwhile registered the 100 m and 200 m back-stroke gold medals for Girls Group I taking 1:56.33 and 4:12.69 respectively as Th Sayonbi took 2:23.21 to seal the 100 m gold for Group IV girls and Prithiviraj Laishram of Ideal Club clocked 3:05.17 to win the 200 m gold for Boys group II.

The day also saw MGMC's Budhachandra claiming a gold medal in the 50 m backstroke gold medal for boys Group II with a time of 33.07 seconds as Ch Robertson of TYC and L Prithiviraj of Ideal Club finished second and third taking 36.36 and 37.23 seconds.

Individual Medley

Th Langamba of CSC sealed the Boys Group II 200 m Individual Medley gold medal with the best time of 2:41.54 as L Bishoijit of TYC took 2:44.16 and H Sanathoi of DSA Kakching took 3:12.02 to finish second and third.

S Athouba of CSC in the meantime bagged the Boys Group I 200 m gold medal taking 2 minutes 20.09 seconds as N Himanshu of Ideal Club (2:41.42) and S Luchingbi of TYC (3:03.53) won Boys Group III and Girls Group III gold medals.

Butterfly Stroke

Gaithuilung Golmei of Ideal Club also won the Boys Group I 50 m butterfly stroke gold medal taking 30.38 seconds as well as the 100 m event with a time of 1:16.28.Panthoi Sagolshem of TYC (35.88 seconds), S Luchingbi of TYC (38.74 seconds) and L Saiyonbi of TYC (41.03 seconds) meanwhile won the gold medals in the Girls Group II, Group III and Group IV competitions.

Laitonjam Punghen of CSC also picked a gold medal in the 100 m event for Boys Group III .

Freestyle

Siddhika Huidrom of MGMC in the meantime sealed gold medal in the Girls Group I 50 m freestyle competition with a time of 23.10 seconds as N Nellie of TYC and Valentina Irengbam of MGMC finished second and third respectively with 1:53.28 and 1:54.11.Khagemba Sharungbam of HLSYDO (6:06.89) and N Dhananjoy of NLM (4:59.77) meanwhile secured the boys Group I and Group II 400 m gold medals as Koijam Athoiba of HLSYDO (2:23.31) and L Lanchenba (2:19.09) won gold 200 m medals for Boys Group III and II categories.

S Athouba of CSC in the meantime secured the 100 m event gold medals for Boys Group I taking 57.45 seconds as Gaitri Thoudam of TYC (1:17.91) and L Saiyonbi of TYC (34.39 seconds) seal the 100 m gold medal for Girls Group II and 50 m gold for Girls Group IV categories.

S Athouba (2:10.89) and Nillie Ningthoujam of TYC (4:17.48) were also able to win 200 m freestyle gold medals for Group I boys and girls as Christina Mangang (1:22.02) of HLSYDO and L Saiyonbi of TYC (1:20.20) bagged 100 m freestyle gold medals for Girls Group II and Group IV categories.

Diving 1 m springboard

Yaichenbi of MGMC secured the Girls Group IV 1 m springboard event gold medal with the highest 69.6 points as Korounganbi of Ideal Club and Geetanjali Melem of Ideal Club secured 59.26 and 52.35 points respectively to seal the silver and bronze medal.

RK Lanchenbi of MGMC also posted 96.15 points to win the girls Group III gold medal as Sh Korounganba of CSC picked the boys Group III gold medal by securing 157.8 points.

Around 100 swimmers from 12 units are taking part in the championships.
