Imphal, December 24 2019: SSU, Singjamei continued their impressive forms to thrash AFC, Thoubal 4-1 today at Mapal Kangjeibung to make themselves into the quarter finals of the 62nd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2019 being organised by All Manipur Football Association.

Both AFC and SSU, who earned the last 16 round berths with similar 3-1 wins, started the game cautiously and had to see their chances go off targets before SSU's H Shital converted a fine opportunity in the 41st minute and made it 1-0 till the break.

Once again both the teams stuck to their business after the break, however SSU, which are aiming for entry to the Second Division League, were seen gradually dominating the possession and excelled in creating more chances than the Thoubal side.

After exchanging few runs on both ends, SSU stamped their authority with Th Premjit finding the target in the 54th minute.

In a dramatic turn, the next minute saw Md Fayazuddin take advantage of SSU defensive lapse to pull back a goal for AFC but their comeback hope was put off soon enough as N Binodkhana banged in SSU's third goal in the 57th minute.

SSU defense, which were quick to analyse their weakness after Fayazuddin goal, made sure to spoil all latter efforts from AFC as their midfielders and forwards combined well to tease AFC defense looking for more goals..

AFC defense too earned some applause as they managed to ease pressure with right time interceptions and tacklings, however they failed to stop Th Chingkheinganba from adding another goal to SSU's tally during the stoppage time.

Eventually SSU rounded off the game 4-1 and set up quarter final date with Sagolband United which finished runners up in the previous edition.

FC Lamjao will play MA, Sadar Hills in the next pre-quarter final match on December 26 at 1.45 pm .
