MMC top 41st State Junior Athletics Championships with 28 medals including 16 gold

Imphal, August 23 2026: MMC, Mongkhang Lambi emerged on top of the 41st State Junior Athletics Championship with a staggering 28 medals including 16 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals.

UYO finished second with 6 medals, 13 silver and 5 bronze medals in the 2-day championship held at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium as ISA, Heirok gathered 5 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals to remain third in the tally.

The final day of the championship saw LSA's Javed Hussain clock 8:57.28 to win the U20 boys 3000 m race as MMC's M Mithoingamba won the 1000 m race for U18 boys with a time of 2:36.19 .

U1-8 girls' 1000 m race gold meanwhile went to ISA's Ningthoujam Deviya who completed the course in 3:39.97 .

M Harshid of ISA meanwhile clinched the U18 boys' discus throw gold with a 16.94 m throw as Y Bikash claimed the U20 boys' gold with a 21.58 m throw.

U18 girls' discus throw gold medal on the other hand went to Y Malemnganbi of TDC who registered the best throw of 16.44 m .

200 m race

PYNK's T Johnson was the fastest in the U20 boys' 200 m race in 22.68 seconds as MMC's W Siddharth claimed the U18 boys' gold with a time of 22.69 seconds.

U18 girls' 200 m race gold was claimed by UYO's Arambam Premita in 27.75 seconds as NSU's Nishita bagged the U20 category gold in 30.30 seconds.

Long Jump

U16 boys' long jump gold medal went to L Tomcruise of MMC who leapt 4.86 m as compatriot M Mithoingamba of won the U18 boys' gold with a 6.37 m jump and PYNK's Aslam Khan made a 5.88 m leap for the U20 boys' gold.

Triathlon-A

O Roshan of KNSAA topped the U14 boys' Triathlon-A competition by securing 2062 points as MMC's Bimax Chingangbam registered 2002 points and H Malemnganba of Moirang Part II posted 1883 points to settle for the silver and the bronze medals.

Meanwhile, UYO's Zoya picked 1327 points to secure pole position in the U14 girls' competition.
