3rd Senior One Day Trophy : PTRC beat defending champions THAU by 1 run in final thriller

PTRC, Patsoi Part IV emerged champions of the 3rd Senior One Day Trophy as they beat two-time champions THAU, Thangmeiband by 1 run in a thrilling final match today at THAU ground.
PTRC amassed a modest total of 144 for 6 wickets in the allotted 35 overs and rode on exemplary bowling performances from Palujam Kiranbala (4/15), Konsam Sayatombi (3/27) and RK Linthoingambi (2/20) to bowl out THAU for 143 runs in 32.4 overs.
It may be noted that THAU had defeated PTRC by 144 runs in the league stage.

After electing to bat first, PTRC had a struggling start and were 11/3 within 3.5 overs with Koijam Ranjita being cleaned up in the first delivery itself by Haorungbam Kiranbala before Th Loidangton 3 and L Linthoingambi 0 were dismissed in the fourth over.
They were 28/3 at the end of the first powerplay but Mangsatabam Chingkheileima and RK Linthoingambi forged a remarkable partnership for the fourth wicket to take the team to the 50-run mark in 15.4 overs.
Chingkheileima, however, got run out for 28 runs after forging a partnership of 52 runs with Linthoingambi.
Linthoingambi held on to take the team to 100-run along with Chingangbam Binomala in the first delivery of the 26th over with a double before she completed her half century off a single in the fifth delivery of the 28th over.
She however got run out on 51 in the third delivery of the 29th over as the scoreboard read 111 before Binomala and Kiranbala took the matter in their hands.
Kiranbala (14) was however caught behind the wicket off the fifth delivery of the 34th over.
Binomala was unbeaten on 32 off 35 balls with Bidyarani 0 not out as the innings culminated at 144 .
Chasing 145 for the win, THAU batters also did not have best of the start and lost Keisham Kalpana (2) who got caught behind the wicket in the third over off the RK Linthoingambi's delivery.
Brahmacharimayum Seterny 25 and Thokchom Ronibala then took on PTRC bowlers to take the team to 50 run mark in the 11th over and forged a 46-run run partnership before Seterny was caught and bowled by Konsam Sayatombi as the scoreboard read 60 .
Ronibala stayed on and forged another remarkable 48-run partnership with Niruta Thoudam for the third wicket but her dismissal by Koijam Ranjita on 43 runs in the 23rd over marked the turning point of the chase as remaining order failed to withstand the spin duo of P Kiranbala and K Sayatombi.
PTRC were feted with a cash prize of Rs 40,000 along with the winners' trophy while THAU were feted with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and the runners up trophy.
Woman of the series- Niruta Thoudam (18 wickets and 159 runs in 7 innings); highest run scorer- Keisham Kalpana (438 runs in 7 innings); highest wicket taker- Niruta Thoudam and player of the final match- Palujam Kiranabala (4 wickets in 5.4 overs and 14 runs) were also feted with cash prize of Rs 1,000 each and trophies.
